Title
The Marquis Wellington, negative multiculturalism
Subject
A clip of Alan Palmer, manager of The Marquis Wellington, being interviewed by Fayola Francis
Description
Transcript:
"FF: How would you describe your ethnicity or nationality?
AP: I always get it wrong because I don’t know what’s right to say.
FF: Whatever you want to say.
AP: Because I’d say ‘British’ but you know when you get it on forms and stuff, I don’t know. Is it ‘English’ or ‘British’? I don’t know what one’s the bad one to say.
FF: Why do you go for ‘British’ rather than ‘English’?
AP: I don’t know, it just sounds right. It just sounds better. ‘English’ has all sorts of connotations to, I don’t know…skinheads I suppose."
